People’s Champ Manny “PacMan” Pacquiao Officially Retired from Boxing Industry

Senator Manny Pacquaio promulgated his boxing career retirement yesterday, September 29, 2021. He posted a video announcement on his IG and captioned it with “Goodbye boxing.”

The video is a recollection of his boxing journey and thanked all of the people behind his successful boxing career.

“Boxing has always been my passion. I was given the opportunity of representing the Philippines. Bringing fame and honor to my country every time I enter the ring. I am grateful for all my accomplishments and opportunity to inspire the fans.”

Manny was firstly taught by his uncle, Sardo Mejia.

“I will always remember my relative, Sardo Mejia, na siay pong nagturo sa akin about boxing.

He shared that he once dreamt of being the Philippines’ boxer in Olympics, but he was rejected to be part of the Philippine team.

PacMan also thanked Freddie Roach who he sees not only as his coach but also as a friend and brother. He also thanked Buboy Fernandez who was always around since Day 1.

Halfway through the video, Manny appealed on behalf of young Filipino boxers.

It must be a bitter pill to swallow, but Manny has to face the reality.

“It is difficult for me to accept that my time as a boxer is over.”

“Today, I am announcing my retirement. I never thought this day would come.”

“As I hang up my boxing gloves, I would like to thank the whole world, especially the Filipino people, for supporting Manny Pacquiao.”

Manny Pacquiao is the only boxing legend who became a four-decade world champion.
